Kachidoki is the
name of the bridge above, and that is where the
real estate developers got the idea for this
building. The middle part of the bridge is a
draw-bridge, and you can actually get lift if you
happen to walk across at the same time a transport
truck crosses. I am not a civil engineer, but it
seems to me that the foundation of Plaza Kachidoki
is attached to the very same bridge supports the
trucks hit each time they drive over. At night, the
bridge competes for attention with the red and
orange neon from Ginza as the bridge is lit up in
hues of blue and green.
Right across the
bridge is the famous Tokyo Tsukiji fish market. We
can watch ships offload their wares to the largest
wholesale fish markets in Japan. Fresh slippery
sushi is only 300m away.
I took the bottom
picture when bungie-jumping from Tokyo Tower. Most
of the other pictures on the roll didn't turn out:
they were too blurry. I don't think I will try that
again.
